POEM OF THE MONTH
I wrote this song several years ago and I always sang it acappella. My mother and I were the best of friends and the worst of enemies. She was also my biggest fan and my biggest critic. She has been dead since 1999, but I think of her often and when I feel at my lowest, I wish I had her to tell me it would all be o.k.
My 34th Birthday
Mama, can you see me?
I hide the scars I wear.
I know that you still love me, but I'm not sure you still care.
Mama, can you love me and take away the pain? If I could I would go crazy, but I'm already insane.
Mama, will you listen and let me sing for you. For thats all that I can do.
Mama, can you take away the rage? If I could I'd be a calm breeze and turn the emply page.
I'm not looking for attention, deliverance or acceptance.
I just want to make this perfectly clear.
Mama, oh Mama,
will you listen and let me sing for you for thats all that I can do.
